  • Turn Logan into an urbanist utopia. We already own the land, the sales would easily pay for themselves
  • Money from the project should go into funding transit
    • Between NYC and Boston
    • Between Boston and regional airports
  • Assumption: NYC can handle most Logan traffic
    • Regional airports can handle the rest
  • CR will need to start running small express trains from Providence to Boston, scheduled to meet flights (how big do these trains need to be?)
  • Question: Is there a way to do this halfway? Maybe first we do #13 and other similar projects to ease the pressure from Logan, then go for the big swing
  • Big idea: Boston is for Boston. Students from afar can take the train. Businesses can be run from Boston or use zoom calls. Travelers can afford the 3h extra to get to NYC. This would all be worth it.

We would not be the first: https://www.reddit.com/r/geography/comments/1m7xi04/largest_cities_with_no_airport/

Prominent examples:

  • Malmo: ~350k pop
  • Mecca: 2.5m pop
  • Suzhou: 13m pop
